250 OSL (Obergestueurt Sport Luxus), had to look that up ! Pushrod enclosed OHV, and the doohickeys on the sides of the head are excentrics for setting the valves' clearances, pretty smart !
if it was my bike I would make a long seat, similar to what's on this bike- http://databikes.com/imgs/a/d/w/d/x/nsu__500_consul_consul_genuine_500_1953_1_lgw.jpg
sew a seat cover using distressed faux leather like this-
install a set of vintage mufflers with appropriate patina. hand buff and wax entire bike by hand till satisfied. leave off the lights and remove the side mount headlight ears. display on a valued rug as permanent safekeeping preservation and display. that would be great.

Thanks! All the OSLs I could find had girder front ends. Something weird going on with this telescopic setup...
The forks look to be NSU but later vintage.

I agree, but would put a single saddle on it. Then I'd ride it and leave it out front of local coffee shops :-)
I'm with G. Rug, shmug, I wanna ride it.
If I was to put a dual seat on it, only leopardskin would do.
