Ay yi! I hope somebody will kindly explain what the patent applications are for, exactly. Does the cue have some improving feature that I can't make out? Do all striped balls have seven parts? (And how many parts have solids got?) And oh god that rack! I feel sick.

Seriously, please, help me. This isn't doing my hard-won sanity one bit of good.

A google search for patent no. 691,452 -- the table -- brought up this seemingly unrelated, but toweringly goofy, contraption:

529731 is a sleeve that fits over the hand to ensure that the stroke is straight and even.
