At about 16" long, this is truly a man-size tool for removing snap rings.

What are the things that look like raised circles (three on the top arm as shown, five on the bottom)? Are there dowel pins behind them that secure or stop the moving part between the arms? I HAVE TO KNOW. --rats
I don't have a pair in front of me but I think they're welds. Not resistance spot welds, but they punch holes in the handles, slip them over, then weld through the holes. I don't think rivets would hold the pawl mechanism for very long.
