The distributor appears to be driven by the camshaft and the oil pump by same, or possibly the crank, so what's the need for the sprocket to our left? Would have been simpler to use two gears instead of three sprockets and a chain. Provision for a future timing chain driven supercharger under the intake manifold, perhaps?

Also saw some online references to the straight-eight (I count 8 plug wires in the artwork) having a generator driven by the timing chain.
