Ohlsson and Rice Model 1 chainsaw

A cute little chainsaw from the 1960s. Ohlsson and Rice were manufacturers of a line of tools, utilizing a 22 cc 3/4 hp gas engine as an interchangeable powerhead. This is an adaptation of that concept. a chain saw with a 9 "bar.
The company started in 1946 and died in the late sixties.

They also made model airplane engines.

When I was very young my dad, in a period of feeling flush, bought one of the last "Orline" brand chain saws at the local hardware store. Ridiculously underpowered, it remains the only chainsaw I've ever seen with a gear reduction instead of direct drive off the crank.

It looks like a model airplane engine! I guess they had a small engine that worked pretty well and decided to use it for everything.
