You want 30% growth? A quick Google indicates that the US GDP grew from roughly $300 billion to $543.3 billion during the 1950s. In 1960 the country manufactured 40% of the global output.

Not getting political but it's a crime what diagnostic imaging costs even today. It costs less to have a probe stuck up your butt and a needle stuck through your rectum and into your prostate than it costs to get an MRI, which yields more and better information.
At least for those of us who tend to get hurt vs get sick, x-rays are pretty cheap.
