Lightbulbs wanted, 1916
Dominion was founded by Isabelle Frampton, formerly a foreman (foreperson)- at 22 years of age!- of the lighting department of the Packard Electric. When Packard decided to get out of the lightbulb reconditioning business Isabelle founded Dominion to continue the service. I'd like to see the process!

Sidecar Sunday
After Swallow Sidecars introduced fibreglass as a material for molding sidecar bodies in the mid fifties, Watsonian wasn't far behind, in this 1960 picture, bodies get their final touches before moving to the upholstery shop.

Jaguar Brontosaurus
The Jaguar XKC 301 was an aerodynamic experimental prototype designed by Fred Gardner with William Lyons in 1953. It was built as a static model with aluminum body over a wood frame. Factoryworkers nicknamed it the Brontosaurus (or Bronco). It showed promise and Lyons wanted to see it in motion. It was assembled over a Jaguar C-type, painted British Racing Green and tested on a runway. It showed aerodynamic improvements of more than 15% but the faired in wheels restricted it more or less a straight line. Plans were made to use it as a speed record car, but never carried through. After a few months the car was dismantled and destroyed.
We used to do inexplicable things in this country (apparently)

Celfor drills in 1916
In 1904 Eugene B. Clark, an Illinois Steel employee at the time, determined that the metallurgy of Rich Manufacturing's principal product, a railroad rail drill named the Celfor Drill was faulty, and also found fault with both the management and basic operations, which he ultimately corrected after the two parties established him becoming an equal partner (Wikipedia). By the time this confident ad was being run, Rich Manufacturing had been folded into Celfor and the company became part of a new corporation, Clark Equipment-named after Eugene Clark- who went on to became a major builder of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
