L.&I.J. White 1837 Cooper's drawknife

A pretty specific tool here, this is a cooper's 5 1/2" Hand Chamfering Barrel Draw Knife. I had to really squint to make out enough of the logo to discover who the company was.
 According to the mycompanies.fandom site;
 The L. & I. J. White Company was founded in 1837 (not incorporated till 1892) by Leonard and Ichabod J.  White in Monroe, Michigan. Their product line was mostly edge tools for woodworkers.
In 1843 they moved to Buffalo, New York and in 1928 the company merged with the A. A. Simonds-Dayton Company and Worden Tool Company to form the Simonds-Worden-White Company.

I was (am) puzzled how you'd use this evidently one-handed knife. Wouldn't you know it, there's a museum of coopers' tools online.

I can't get the link to paste, but the place is just called the Coopers' Tool Museum should anyone care to google it. Nice-looking site (but I still can't figure out how the tool is used).

https://cooperstoolmuseum.com/ I like the sun plane. ;-)
I couldn't figure out how this tool works, there did not seem to be any provision for a second handle.
