Personal Submarines

Captain George Kittredge was a submariner in the US Navy during WW2 and continued in the service after the war, becoming submarine divison commander out of Hawaii. After a stint as military attache to India and Israel he retired from the navy to design and build dry subs for the civilian market. Kittredge Industries built and sold 49 submarines over the years. George Kittridge died in 2010 and this sub, located near his home in South Thomaston Maine, is a monument to the man. The marine railway he used to launch his boats is located to the right of the picture.
 More sub pictures.

His autobigraphy reads like a James Bond movie, but it settles down and is an interesting read.
