Len Martin, Airliners of the World, Arco Publishing 1966
Now that's an airplane! Developed as a civilian liner version of the Tu-20, a long range turbo-prop bomber, the large swept-wing plane first flew in 1957. Its four 11,000 hp engines with contra-rotating props provided speeds rivaling jet-powered airliners and its long range capabilities allowed direct flights from Moscow to Havana. The plane had a 14 year career before being replaced by jets. Thirty two were built.
