Bell 500 Series Telephone by Henry Dreyfuss

On display at the Easy Restaurant on Queen St. in Toronto.
The 500 series phone was introduced in 1950 and for thirty four years was the standard phone supplied by the company. They're pretty much indestructible and still in use everywhere today.

There's an ivory-coloured one in my workshop.

It doubles as an infallible 'bare basics' test unit for when I have a land-line problem. I hook it directly to Bell's cable outside to determine whether the trouble is with Bell, or from something in the house. It's always Bell's problem.
