The piston engine Skycrane (shown here with a Honest John missile) was first flown in March of 1959 and set the stage for the later S-64 version, powered by turboshaft engines. It proved underpowered and only one SH-60 was built, it crashed in 1961. The wreckage was saved however, and more than 50 years later is being restored by the Connecticut Air and Space Center.
