During WW2, several Lancaster bombers were converted to passenger/mail planes to fly the transAtlantic route. Though intended mostly as fast mail carriers, 8 to 10 uncomfortable passengers could be accomodated. During the war about 500 flights were completed having delivered 1,500,000 lbs of mail.
