Algoma Mills Hotel CPR (Proposed)

Algoma Mills, located on the north shore of Lake Huron, was a site of early water powered sawmills, and became a major shipping point for the Canadian Pacific Railways coal delivery in the eraly 20th century. At one point the railway was planning this 300 room resort hotel for the site. This was never built.

It isn't quite true to say the hotel was never built. It would be more accurate to say it was never completed. The foundation for the hotel was visible a century after work was halted - parts of the foundation can still be seen today.

Readers will know that the money intended for this Algoma Mills resort and never spent was used to build the Banff Springs Hotel.
