Full rigged ship Joseph Conrad

Another perfect image from The Art of the Boat, Photographs from the Rosenfeld Collection, Mystic Seaport Museum 2005
Launched in Denmark in 1882 as the George Stag, the full-rigged iron-hulled ship was used for training till it was sold to become a private yacht in 1934. Owned and captained by Alan Villiers and used for long distance sea voyages, the stories became a best selling book in 1937.
After serving as a training ship again after WW2, the Conrad was retired to become a museum ship at the Mystic Seaport Museum where it is today.
