Royal Enfield

Mr. G, can you cough up a date (year) for this advertisement, or make a better guess than I can venture? It seems sufficiently coy and cute as to suggest the 1990s, or more recently than that. If my ungenerous supposition is somewhat accurate, that would make this an Enfield India/Madras Motors ad. As I imagine you know, RE/MM's marketing is all about retro fashion. My (secondhand) impression of the India-made REs is that they've gotten a good deal better in this century but that boy, did they need to.

Whether this is an older ad or a new nostalgia play, it's noteworthy that they're not saying anything about their bikes' performance or quality but just hyping their (notional) Britishness.

You are correct. I found it on my harddrive but have no idea when I might have saved it or where I got it from, I ruined the date when I tried to do some fixing with photoshop and saved over the orignal. "Loud valves save lives". Enfield, IIRC.

"Loud clutches save lives". Ducati, of course.

the "loud clutches..." I want to get a dry clutch GSXR750 Ltd and wear that shirt with big Suzuki Logos!
