So the idea never gained much traction but from the patent it looks like the rear wheels were crankshaft-driven and the legs and feet (called "propellers") were activated to "unstick" the carriage if it got stuck in mud or snow or dung or whatever.
if that front pivot bushing snaps that rod is gonna go straight UP his ass.
