Don't mean to make you feel old, Mr G ... ;-)

On watercraft 'H.M.S.' would stand for 'His Majesty's Ship' but what does it mean on a despatch rider's helmet?

The picture is fake, you just have to look at the clean shoes, it's just for time life magazin

Honor Blackman was a dispatch rider in London during WWII. Fifteen years old and she loved it. She said that the sound of the engine drowned out the sound of the incoming doodlebugs.
A motorcyclist all her life.

RN on the bike's tank = royal navy, so that ties in with the hms on the helmet.

Aha! I had seen the 'RN' but didn't make the connection.
