You're right, a whole 'nother language. In trying to reeve my way through this luff of instruction I find my brain has become a standing block, simply tied to a becket and unable to move.
When I was a kid we called it a block & tackle, or is it had a chain instead of a rope, a chain fall. We had a pair of chain falls in the boathouse at our cottage on the St Lawrence River.
