Eclipse thresher

The thresher was a monumental leap forward for agriculture when it was introduced in the late 1830s, many companies jumped on the bandwagon in what was a large important industry. It appears that this company went over the top in their advertising. And how about that creative typography below?

Sans-serif type always seems anachronistic in those very old ads (+ newspaper headlines, circus posters, etc.). I wonder (annually, for c. 40 years now) when it was introduced and how it was received when fresh and new. But so far, curiosity has never compelled me to learn.

An almost completely collapsed + decomposed thresher in my grandma's equipment shed offered many and various means by which a child could hurt theirself.
