We used to make things in this country. #96 or Sad Anniversary of a Broken Arrow

It was 53 years ago today that John Diefenbaker cancelled the Avro Arrow project, ending Canada's aerospace industry.  It's worth taking a moment to reflect on this decision, and on the potential long-term effects of decisions being made out of our current Prime Minister's office.

 

The photo above was taken last March at the Canadian Air and Space Museum in Toronto, where they have constructed a full-size mock-up of the Arrow.  Awe-inspiring.  Sadly, the (Conservative) government has chosen to close this museum and to demolish the 1929 DeHavilland Aircraft of Canada historical building where the museum is housed in order to build a hockey arena.  If you think this is a another bad decision, go to  the Canadian Air & Space Museum and read about how you can join the protest.
