P61 Black Widow

The P 61 was the first plane designed to both carry radar and to be used as a night fighter. Although this flight is in D-Day colours, Wikipedia says they were not operational till July 1944 ( a month after the invasion).
  There are four examples remaining, one of which the Mid-Atlantic air museum is restoring to flying condition. http://www.maam.org/p61.html
