Locomotive John Molson

Built by Kawasaki in 1970, the John Molson is a replica of the locomotive built in 1849 by Kinmonds, Hutton, and Steel of Dundee, Scotland for the Champlain and St Lawrence Railroad. After being operated through several company amalgamations the original ended up as the property of the Grand Trunk Railway where it was thought to have been retired in 1874. It is not clear whether the locomotive was named after the father who passed away in 1836 or his son of the same name who was running the business at the time.
This replica can seen at the Canadian Railway Museum in Saint-Constant, Quebec where it is frequently operated on summer weekends.

Is John Molson related to the famous brewing company?
