Jim Mollinson breaks a speed record crossing the Atlantic, 1936

His average speed was 250 mph.  Mollison, a Scot, was married for a time to equally famous aviatrix Amy Johnson, and the press dubbed them "The Flying Sweethearts."   Uggh.
