I had not seen this paint scheme on a GG-1 before, it turns out that No. 4800 "Old Rivets," was the prototype for the series. In 1935 (same year as the book I got the photo from was published), famed industrial designer Raymond Loewy was hired by the Pennsylvania Railroad to give the design a more streamlined look. See more
