First Canadian armoured vehicles

Lt Col. Robert J. Icks, Tanks and Armoured Vehicles.  Phillip Andrews Pub. 1945

Although there had been a couple of Russell-Knight Scout car prototypes made in Toronto in 1915, nothing came of the project and the first armoured cars in use by the Canadian army in WW1 were the improvised lightly-armoured American trucks shown above. These vehicles did not return to Canada when the war ended and it wasn't till 1932 that the army started experimenting with this type of vehicle again.
