Potato harvester, New Brunswick



Picking up one row at a time, towed behind a tractor and the steel rod "shaker belt" driven by PTO, it must date to the fifties? I can't find a makers ID tag on it but it looks just a little too "finished" to be home made.

I dunno kinda looks like a combo of factory and home made. Take those inner wheels with brake drums fastened to the outer tractor types. And I think original ones were powered by the wheels rolling on the ground not by PTO. Maybe old factory work with 'modern' updating as she wore out eh!

I agree. The wheel hubs do look automotive... and the PTO shaft drive looks like an afterthought. The wheels would probably have had lugs on them if they were ground drive, but I'm not sure why he wouldn't have used rubber tires.
