The Squeegee tire was in production for at least a decade, starting about 1939. General Tire started in business in 1915 in Akron, diversified into broadcasting by buying radio stations during the 30s and later rocketry. The tire portion of the business was bought by Continental in 1987.

They remind me of the Pirelli Scorpion tires that Ford puts on my F150s. They look like they're half-worn and will have no traction at all, yet they stick like glue even in rain.
The black portion of the sidewall is probably needlessly decorative, and the tread looks like an airplane tire. I wonder how they are in the snow. That boy ain't never seen nuthin' like that before! It's all a bit weird.
The girl's delight is an even bigger mystery to me. "How marvelous that someone has named a tire after my war hero grandfather, General Squeegee!"
