I've never seen one of these vises, but the Akron Wrench & Vise Company was established in 1921 by James Reeves and K M Long. The company does not seem to lasted long.
J R Long was a prolific inventor, filing many patents over the years. He also had established the J R Long Wrench Company in Akron, Ohio in 1906.
