The Syracuse Chilled plow Co. was founded in 1876 as an agricultural equipment manufacturer. Chilled refers to the tempering process used to make the plow tougher and more wear resistant. The wrench must be part of the toolkit supplied with these plows.
By the early 20th Century, the company was at its peak and in 1911 John Deere acquired the Syracuse NY operation. Plows were manufactured in the city till the factory closed in 1955.
