Detachable rims in 1906 were not common, so drivers and mechanics had to remove the old tire, usually by cutting it with a knife and tearing off the remaining shreds with their hands. Here Pierre Bablot's pit crew are changing tires on his Brasier during the Circuit des Ardennes. Note the pile of fresh tires ready for use in the background.
