"Easy terms available," for the purchase of a bicycle, says a lot about the British standard of living in the 1950s. If I understand correctly, GB was still squashed by its wartime debts; a pushbike was a major investment for many ordinary folks; and, hm, was rationing still in effect?
I think it's just big loose shorts, not we drawn:-) And Rats, yeah, the war debt nearly killed the country and rationing continued till 1954. Export or die!
