Innovation from Alcoa

Aluminum beer cans were introduced in 1958, this ad predates Ermal Fraze's invention of the ring pull tab.

I remember before the advent of aluminum beer cans only a real man could crush a beer can single handed. Also steel cans made the best beer can shoes. Anyone else remember making them as a kid?

I wondered why the Alcoa company didn't reference the quicker cooling properties of the aluminum can in this ad when I realized they were showing a 'missing link' - the steel can with aluminum top.

I think I remember seeing the movie Jaws, one of the characters crushes a beer can against his face. Very impressive, at that point we still had steel beer cans in Canada which didn't crush near so well :-)
