The ship Canada was built at Kingsport N.S. by Burgess and Cox in 1891. It was one of the largest and last square-rigged wooden vessels built in Canada, displacing 2130 tons. She sailed the world till 1910 when she was reduced to a gypsum-carrying barge running between Windsor NS and Staten Island NY. In 1926- worn out and rotting- she was burned for the metal fasteners at Portland Me.
