Dremel Model A sander

This is a nice little metal and bakelite corded palm sander, lacking a little in styling perhaps... This unit doesn't look like it was ever used.

For a while it was sold as a "sander, polisher, and massager...a gift the whole family can use." They dropped the "massager" though...I don't know if that was due to a change in marketing direction or concerns about product liability:

The look on mom's face is priceless...

Merciful heavens, you fellas aren't joking!

What would you recommend for Mom's back, legs, and arms: about 60 grit?

Well, the "Sanding Guide for Home Craftsman and Housewives" (can't make this stuff up) recommends the sheepskin pad for massage. They do not, however, suggest maybe using a clean or dedicated sheepskin pad for massage...back then I guess they believed boiled linseed oil, wax, and solvent residue was good for the skin (and maybe it is).

For anybody still thinking this is a joke, I direct you to page 15:

Crap, you guys are amazing. It's just a boring little palm sander in it's original box. \you guys have taken it to a whole different level. Obviously, whoever bought this missed all the fun -)

It's just funny that somebody in a marketing department ever though it was a good idea to peddle a sander as a massager, without providing any real instructions as to how to use it as such, an executive signed off on the idea, and then the plug got pulled on the whole idea at some point.

I do remember though, from the sixties, massagers that resembled pad sanders but they literally strapped onto the top of the user's hand and the palm and fingers became the pad. I stopped for a haircut once in the eighties in NYC, in Little Italy, and the barber finished up by using one of those massagers on my neck. It was creepy as hell.
