BSA Gold Star

2024 Paris Vintage Show

Brenco wrench

Here's a Whitworth wrench made by the Bren Manufacturing Company. The company was started in 1941 by Miroslav Sigmund to make components for the Bren gun. He employed a group of workers who had escaped from the Brno factory which made the original light machine gun from which the Bren was derived. They went on to also make tools for the Ministry of Defence and later for retail.

The company was acquired in 1953 by R. W. Crabtree and Sons.   Grace's Guide

Nice winter project...

Here we have a 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Series I sold at auction by RM Sotheby's for $1.875,000 USD. I can't imagine.

True, the car has a great history, until it was crashed and burned some time around 1960 and put in storage since. But the accident that destroyed it doesn't seem to be recorded. Doesn’t come with the original motor. And when it’s restored, won't the owner just have basically a replica on the (nearly the only part left that’s original) frame? Wow.

RM Sotheby's auction listing here.

Electrochef compact kitchen

Porcelain and metal! That's the future. CFor people used to the cast iron wood stoves of that time, this must seemed unbeliveably futuristic when it was introduced in 1930. Could have maybe included a fridge under the over though...

AJS single

I really want to open that large housing on the head to see what the rocker system looks like. I've never posted a cutaway drawing of this engine.

Wooden toy locomotive

Nicely done and well proportioned. Looks like it could be homemade...

Monday Mystery; Multi tool

This looks like some sort of stove or agricultural wrench, looks really useful, the only marking is the PATT  2450 which isn't any help at all. How about a guess or two before using Google lens to identfy it?

Monday Mystery, Red Devil saw sharpener

Thanks, Terry!

This is apparently a mitre attachment used for sharpening saws. Not clear how it works but maybe the picture below provides a clue.

L.&I.J. White 1837 Cooper's drawknife

A pretty specific tool here, this is a cooper's 5 1/2" Hand Chamfering Barrel Draw Knife. I had to really squint to make out enough of the logo to discover who the company was.
 According to the mycompanies.fandom site;
The L. & I. J. White Company was founded in 1837 (not incorporated till 1892) by Leonard and Ichabod J.  White in Monroe, Michigan. Their product line was mostly edge tools for woodworkers.
In 1843 they moved to Buffalo, New York and in 1928 the company merged with the A. A. Simonds-Dayton Company and Worden Tool Company to form the Simonds-Worden-White Company.
