Short Stirling S 31

William Green, Famous Bombers of the Second World War, Hanover House 1960
In 1938 Short, having received an order for the four engine Stirling bomber, built a half-scale flying model for test purposes. It was originally powered by four 90 hp Pobjoy Niagara radials, later upgraded to 115 hp engines. Over the years it served as a testbed for modifications to the Short Stirling and was scrapped in 1944 after a take-off accident.
