I have two German-made nippers. No maker's mark on the first:
It does say "For Piano Wire." Basically, spring steel. Those jaws must be very well hardened.
The second pair says "For Hard Wire" and has a really cute logo of a cat playing with a ball of yarn. Who would have expected such whimsy from a German tool maker?
