Matchless introduced this beautiful 500cc racer in 1959. Although it was successful, only 180 were made by the time production ceased in 1963.
Replicas have been popular, in a motorcycle magazine in the late eighties George Beale said figured they had made about about 150 more based on the fact he made about 10 replicas per year, though his website currently says 41!
In the background, the roadgoing Matchless twins- wrapped in paper- were the company's main product.
