Know your motorcycle forks

This image comes from one of Floyd Clymers books, so I expect they're all American makes, I cannot find what M.M. or R.S. stand for. Any ideas?  There was an Italian manufacturer MM between 1924 to 1957 but too late for this. More girder forks here.
