Homelite chain saw with bowbar





  The idea was less pinching of the bar, but it doesn't seem safety was much of a factor.

I like the hand grip on the bar, a fraction of an inch from the chain. The greatest safety invention for a chainsaw was the low kickback tooth profile. I have never, in a lot of years of chainsawing, have ever had the safety brake activated as it was intended.

50 years ago I used a Poulan saw like that. No anti-kickback device on it at all. It was heavy to boot. That machine really tried to eat my face a couple of times
