At the end of 1949, the FitzJohn Coach Company of Muskegon Michigan opened a Canadian plant in a hangar at the Brantford Airport to build public transit buses. In total, 197 buses were built at Brantford.
Blue Bird Body Company bought out FitzJohn in 1958 and the factory's product changed to school buses. Blue Bird closed its Canadian plant in 2007.
