Nail wheel

When I was a kid, every handyman had one of these, usually using the ubiquitous Gerber baby food jars...

I still have two of these in use. Replacement jars that fit the lids are really hard to find. Anyone have some kicking around their basement that they'd like to get rid of? Only sort of joking… :)

Would they be mason jars? I've only ever seen them with the ~2" dia. baby food jars.

Sadly, no. The jars have a shoulder and a narrower neck.

I think there must have been kind of some “standard” 8oz jar size at the time. I don’t think any of the ones I have are baby food (although perhaps other foods). Most are identical, and probably came with the unit. There are a couple that have been replaced over the years. One of those came from some kind of grease, and the other from a Hartz Mountain jar of birdseed, I think.

Another method was to screw a row of lids to the underside of a shelf.

My Dad used my baby food jars as well!
