Canadian Pacific Railways got into the airplane business in the early 1940s when it bought a number of small bush airlines that served the remote areas of Canada. After WW2 the airline secured routes to Amsterdam, Australia and Hong Kong. They acquired Canadair North Star aircraft for these overseas routes but by 1953 business was good enough that they purchased DC-6s that could fly nonstop across the Atlantic (eastward only, on the westbound flights they would still need to be refueled at Goose Bay Nfld. This poster celebrates the improved service the longer range aircraft provided..
