Hallo, looks like a G80 CS from 1966

Externally, at least, the major components look just like my '54 CS. I'm sure you're right in thinking this bike is c. 10 years younger; but what is it exactly that suggests a more recent model? Can't quite put my oily finger on the differences.

Rats - Oil puddle under it is 10 years smaller?

In 1967 I bought a brand new 1966 G80CS. See the pictures and short article on page 13 of the latest Westcoast BMOC newsltter.

Is there an visible difference between long stroke and short?

Mr. G: I think the same model is shown in Roy Bacon's book, a G80 CS from 1966, with oil tank on the left, battery on the left and aluminum primary cover for the alternator.Full aluminum cylinder is short stroke

Possibly of interest: improved replicas of these engines are manufactured in Holland
by ABSAF. Ditto for BSA B34 Gold Stars.
