The futuristic GM Aerotrain was first shown to the public in 1955, the railways were grasping at straws for ways to bring back the passenger traffic they were losing to cars and airlines. Two trains toured around the country, but they did not gain a following. Still trying two years later, the trains were shown in Canada in 1957.
