Back when we smoked...

Old pistons recycled into ashtrays... what can we do nowadays with old ashtrays?

I have a BSA A65 piston on my desk. Being a pipesmoker and motorcyclist, I'm quite pleased with it. It's a nice bit of sculpture.

Mine is from a R-3350 (Douglas Skyraider), it sits next to my South Bend clone to hold odd drills and bits for centers, countersinks etc.
Even beeing a rather big piston it still tends to overflow...

Mine was from a Fairbanks Morse industrial diesel engine. Lots of hacksawing. I never smoked but it sat in my living room for many years.

I have one that was my grandfather’s made of a radial engine piston, probably a Wright Whirlwind, plus I have some bookends that are master rods out of a radial. I remember when I was a little kid the sound of him tapping the ash out of his pipe on the ashtray.
