This painting by Edouard Roux commemorates the passage of the Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napolean III on the Imperial yacht L'Aigle piloted by Napoléon Coste, the first shipthrough the canal.
I'm afraid that the painting you show doesn't show the French Imperial yacht 'Aigle' She had three masts and a single funnel and wasn't square rigged. 'Fraid I don't know which ship this is, but she's flying either Egyptian,or Turkish, colours, so definitely not French.
