It was a Swordfish attack that jammed the Bismarck's rudder, allowing it to be sunk by the navy.
That was in May 1941. The gunners had trouble shooting them down because they travelled so slowly, they were overcompensating with their aim. Hard to believe they were still operational 3 years later.
