with apologies to Ogden Nash...
Obviously a serious racer, Mrs. Billie Clarke tackles a Prescott Speed Hillclimb in a Bugatti model 49. Year unknown...
In my opinion, not the nicest styling of the lot...
I don't know that they used model years back then but if this page here is correct (and it probably is):https://www.computeroutpost.com.au/store/thumb.ashx?code=BUGTHE&img=3Then typing "49118" in here shows the chassis going back to at least 1931 (I can't link to the search results page):https://www.bugatti-trust.co.uk/bugatti-trust-online-gallery-search/Peter was a lucky man I bet.
Its no cambro
I find it fascinating that a 60 or more year old image of a car will bring up info on the chassis number.
Those Bugatti collectors are a serious bunch...there's a ton of historical info out there and freely available. I was more interested in Billie's story but she must have kept her socials private.
I spent quite a while looking for more info on her. :-) Someone who knows her will speak up at some point.
